Anyone Interested in a 9F?

Anyone Interested in a 9F?
I'm thinking about my second engine build and fancy a 9F!

Would anyone be interested in coming along for the ride? I could do two or three or more maybe. It would make the challenge a whole lot more interesting and give me someone to talk about it with as the wife is not too earth shatteringly interested!

I would use the following process to ensure accuracy and reasonable rate of delivery:

1. Create 3D model of engine in Solidworks
2. Evaluate / Modify / Improve valve gear design using Dockstader software
3. Waterjet cut as many flat bits as possible
4. Sub contract where economically viable
5. I own a Tormach PCNC1100 so many bits CNC'd for accuracy and beauty
6. Appropriate amount of rivets to be used
7, Paint job by Adam Meredith of http://traditionalpaintingandlining.com who painted my first loco, see above.

Obviously this would not be either cheap or quick!

If you would like to discuss ideas further, please email me on jbanfie@yahoo.com

Search on youtube for jbanfie to see my first engine in action

Hi Jon,

I wondered how long it would be before you decided to build another! It's great to see you taking on another challenge!

Are you basing it on the Jim Vass design?

I have also been tempted by the idea of a 9F, but I'm not sure it will go around my 35ft radius curves! And in any case, my Hunslet build has proceeded at a slower pace than yours, and I still have a little finishing off to do! I would love to hear how you get on though. Best of luck with it!

Hi John

We may be interested, and wonder what sort of timescale you were looking at and the burning question of a rough price. We appreciate it will not be quick and hope this may allow for a payment plan to be agreed.

Hi Gilly,

Thanks for you kind reply to my offer, but sadly my excitement about building a 9F has faded as after considerable research I have decided it would take forever!

Perhaps I should have taken the 'ad' down

Cheers

Hi JonB,
I have nearly finished a full set of drawings for the 9F in 7/14 on Solidworks. It is designed to be a very fast build. Anyone interested contact me on www.hazzlewood-electronics@daisyconnect.com. Will send you a *.pdf picture of the design.

Cheers Vernon.
