Grease for o rings

Grease for o rings

I am rebuilding an air valve to use on steam line to operate drain valves.

I have got correct size silicone o rings (Blackgates) for valve. When assembling what lubricant should be used. I know silicone lubricant on silicone seals is not recommended but what easily available grease should I use without affecting the o ring material.

John,
having looked at various catalogues there isn't an obvious answer, water and alcohol ! come up in one list. Try giving James Walker a ring on 01270 536000, there technical dept: should be able to help.

look in the Parker-Hannifin O-Ring Handbook, page 3-4 & 3-5. Specifies lubricants for various o-ring materials:
