Milner Hunslet Lubricator

I am not happy with the sight feed lubricator on my Milner Hunslet.
Can anyone (including commercial suppliers) recommend a suitable mechanical lubricator ?
Best to use 1 each side, or one dual ram ?
What linkages should be used from the crosshead ?
Can anyone make up the linkages for me at reasonable cost ?

Thanks
B Winston

On my Hunslet I have fitted a Steamfittings twin ram lubricator which has been working well. The drive is from a bracket with a pivot bolted to the back of the crosshead onto which a 2 part linkage connects to the lubrictor drive arm.

Thanks 7337 - could you send a diagram of the linkages with measurements ?
Also a photo of the lubricator on the loco ?
Does the link hangs over the side of the running plate ?
or did you cut a slot closer in to the crosshead ?

Thanks

Hi, I am proposing to fit a twin sight feed lubricator on my Milner Hunslet. I would be interested to know why you want to change to a mechanical pump on your engine? Thanks.

Hi 77337, I would also be interested to see the details of your lubricator linkage. Mine is driven from the rear driver but the mechanism isn't wholly satisfactory.

Best rgds, Paul.

To roystonthomas - I find it too tricky to get the oil flow correct with the sight feed, it tends to go from no oil to too much oil with little movement of the control. Also I have to change the glycerine too often as it emulsifies with water.

It seems that a mechanical one would be more reliable.

I'd go for one on each side, then should one stop working it will be easier to notice the oil isn't being used.

Hi All, Could someone please send me a drawing with dimensions and/or photos of the linkage used to drive a "Steam fittings" oil pump from the crosshead on a Milner Hunslet? Thanks.
