Aluminium rail in Australia and New Zealand

The more I think about it the more I am thinking of using aluminium rail on my line in New Zealand. "Local opinion" is that it wears quickly and expands a lot (whihc it does), however many, MANY tracks overseas use aluminium rail (including many commercial lines).

Seeing as there is no local source I am considering getting a die made up and getting it extruded locally.

Would any other individuals or clubs be interested in ali’ rail if it could be sourced locally? If I could spread the cost it’d obviously help.

Kind regards
