Level Crossings

Here at the |Bath and West railway we have a level crossing that has some 50 people crossing every minute. At the moment we have standard crossing gates manned by a minimum of two people.
We are thinking of going for standard automatic crossing gates of the rise and fall variety.
Has anyone had any experience of these?

There are some automatic ones at the Conwy Valley museum at Betws-y-Coed, I think made by William Hughes. Sorry I have no more information to offer.

To quote a level crossing engineer I knew back in BR days - the best level crossing is a bridge.
