Friday 15th September – Sunday 17th September 2023
This year’s Annual Gathering and AGM will be held at the Bedford Model Engineering Society, (BMES) Summerfield’s Miniature Railways and will run from Friday 15th September to Sunday 17th September 2023. Members may arrive from 2pm on Thursday 14th September. There are camping pitches available which must be pre-booked. Note: Well behaved dog owners are welcome with their dogs.
Members are invited to book in their engines for running. Most small and medium types of locomotives can be accommodated and must not be longer than 12ft including driving truck. The track is made from 21mm aluminium rail so is unable to take the larger locomotives of the Tinkerbell or Thomas II types. There is also a weight restriction of 750kg on the hydraulic lift which is used to access the track. Sorry no stock other than a driving truck can be accommodated due to limited storage space. There will be a limit of one locomotive per member.
The railway has a main running line of approx 5000ft and is fully signalled. There is overnight accommodation for 30 locomotives at Haynes End station. During running all locomotives not in use will be moved to the holding sidings.
Tea and Coffee is available in the Club House, and in the crew room on the main station.
Pre-ordered packed lunches will be available on Saturday and Sunday.
On Friday evening there will be a Fish & Chip Supper served on site and there will be an informal pre-booked BBQ supper on the Saturday serving around 6pm. No evening meal will be served on the Sunday. All pre-booked meals must be pre-paid. A bar is planned to be on site.
Proficiency Scheme Bronze and Silver Award testing is available for anyone wishing to do it. Please complete the relevant section on the booking form.
The formal Annual General Meeting will take place at 4pm on Saturday 16th September 2023 at The Village Hall, Haynes. Please arrive at 3.30pm for registration. There is ample car parking.
For members bringing locomotives your public liability insurance certificate and boiler test certificates together with proof of current year’s membership of the society/club that tested the boiler(s) and issued the insurance certificate will be inspected before they are called forward to unload. NOTE:- NO COMPLETE PAPERWORK – NO RUN.
