Club & Track Details

The Teesside Small Gauge Railway (TSGR) is a model engineering club located at the north end of Preston Park Museum and Grounds, Stockton-on-Tees. The TSGR deals with the construction, maintenance and operation of locomotives and rolling stock owned by both its members and the club itself. During the running season, we frequently run passenger services to provide enjoyment for parkgoers and to provide enough funds to keep the club running. Our on-site facilities include a fully kitted out workshop, a canteen/clubroom and ground level and raised running lines. The TSGR was set up during the 1990s by a small group of people who wanted to create a running line alongside a workshop to run and maintain their locomotives. Over the last 30 years, the site has developed thoroughly from an empty field to a railway that can see almost one thousand visitors on a good weekend. The railway has expanded to consist of a dual-gauge ground level 7.25 inch and 5 inch gauge track which is used mainly for passenger trains. A dual gauge 5 inch and 3.5 inch raised track has also been developed to provide a comfortable means of operating smaller scale model locomotives. Collectively, people have spent thousands of hours maintaining and operating the TSGR, if not tens of thousands of hours.
